FILE_ID.DIZ description for BBS upload
Note that even though version 9 is the latest version of CT, I will
continue to maintain the CTY files for version 7/8 (all the country
files are produced from the same master file, so it's no extra work).
Also note that features were added in version 8 and later revisions of
version 7 (such as continent overrides for countries whose continent
is not uniquely determined by the CQ or ITU zone), and these features
may result in incorrect country determination when the newest country
files are used with older versions of CT.
I update the files regularly, usually starting a month before each
major contest (CQWW, ARRL DX, WPX, IARU, WAE). The updated files are
announced on PacketCluster(tm) and the Internet CT-USER reflector (see
below). They are also posted to the CT BBS (603-878-1900) and the DX
BBS (502-898-8864). Note that if you use the CT BBS to upgrade your
version of CT, you will usually get the latest country files.
I also maintain an Internet mailing list for CT users. To subscribe,
send a message to "ct-user-REQUEST@ve7tcp.ampr.org" with the command
SUBSCRIBE in the body of the mail message. As part of CT-USER, I
maintain a file archive of some CT-related data and text files,
including all the country files. Send an INDEX command to
CT-USER-REQUEST to see the file list, and a GET <filename> command to
obtain a particular file (File names are in lower case, multiple GET
commands in the same mail message are OK). Send a HELP command to
CT-USER-REQUEST for help with any of these commands. Thank you
Lyndon, VE7TCP, for giving this mailing list and file store a home.
Finally, the files are available on the Internet from the following
sites via anonymous FTP:
ve7tcp.ampr.org:/ftp/software/ct/cty.zip
You may distribute this archive exactly as you received it. In other
words, if you give it to someone, you may not alter its contents by
adding, modifying or removing files. This is to help prevent the
spread of "renegade" country files, as well as making sure everyone has
the same up-to-date files.
I welcome all corrections, comments and questions. You can reach me
on PacketCluster by sending a message to AD1C > K1EA, or on the
Internet by sending a message to "AD1C@tiac.net". As a last resort,
you can write to me by mail at:

181 Littleton Road #324
Chelmsford, MA 01824-2662
If you are unable to obtain the most recent version of this file via
the channels mentioned above, send a formatted diskette, diskette
mailer and $1.00 for postage to the above address and I will mail the
files to you.
